Stella grew up on a farm near Randolph AFB, working with her family in the fields of corn and cotton they grew. She worked for Grandma Cookie Company as a young woman making 20 cents per hour in the late 1930's and gave her mother half her pay each week to help out because her father had passed away when she was only 11 years old. Stella raised a family of four children and worked for over 25 years at Colonial Bakery before retiring in 1990. She was a loving mother and caregiver for her family and her greatest love and sacrifice has always been for her youngest daughter until her death.
