Susan was my sister-in-law's best friend. Whenever we visited Mike and Leslie, we would invariably see Susan also. Or if Mike and Leslie were going to Susan's house, they would bring us along. Susan told me it was she who introduced Leslie to Mike all those years ago. She was always very nice to us. She took me to this huge thrift store near her home one day and turned me on to the joys of thrift shopping. I really haven't shopped retail since. :) She also taught me how to find whole sand dollars and the best shells I have ever found down in South Padre Island. I still have them in glass vases in my living room. In the early 90s, SA had one of its thunderstorms with flash flooding. We had the local news on, and they were reporting from Broadway and 410 where a car was submerged in flood waters. A woman was rescued from her car and a reporter was there on the scene to talk to her. She started talking, Mark recognized her voice and hollered at me to come look. It was Susan, soaking wet, having her 5 minutes of fame on TV! She was really a character, and I am sorry to hear that she passed so soon. Only the good die young, the mean ones live forever. 

Susan, you were there for me 40 years ago.  I'm so glad we got to reconnect  again recently. Who knew, we'd both have Aggie daughters, small world.  You've done a wonderful  job as a Mom.  Good bye my friend.  

Our Daughter-in-law was loved for thousands of reasons and we will miss her and love her always. Susan loved our son, Geary Stevens and we, in turn, loved her for that. She gave us our only two Granddaughters, Katie and Brittany, and we loved her even more. Whenever we needed help, Susan was always there for us, even when it meant going without something for herself. Susan had an independent spirit and we loved her for that. She came into our lives late and was gone way too soon. I know she and Geary are together again, as it was always meant to be. Till we meet again, goodbye for now our sweet Susan.

When I was finishing up my bachelors degree  (1985/86) from Colorado State University, I had two internships to do. Both of these were in Texas. Aunt Joan said it would be nice to see me. I came without a car and without a lot of money. I came to TX from CO where Susan went out of her way to let me stay with her before the internships started. Once the internships started one in Austin and one in Ottine, she drove to pick me up, shared her friends, her time, and took me to a concert for my birthday. I will always cherish the memories and her friendship. Thank you Susan. 

So  sorry to hear of Susan's  sudden and unexpected death.  May the family be comforted in knowing that she was surrounded by her family and friends feeling loved at the time of her passing.
Susan  was a great mother and very proud of her daughters. She was a great friend with a heart of gold.
She will always be remembered  fondly! A wonderful woman who is now with her heavenly Father.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of Susan. I will always remember her great laugh and what a great mom she was. Keeping your family in my prayers.
