Traci Ann Tellgren Vollmer passed away on January 9th, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas, after a long battle with autoimmune liver disease. She was born on November 29th, 1963 in Portland, Oregon to Glenn and Donna Tellgren. The family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada a few years later, and then to Reno, Nevada in 1970. Traci graduated from Reno High School in 1981 and worked at several jobs before becoming employed with the federal government and moving to Boise, Idaho to be nearer her mother. Over the next few years she went back to Reno and then settled for many years in Sacramento, California where she married and had her only child, Kalli Jean Vollmer. She divorced a few years after her daughter was born, and as a single mother, Kalli became the main focus of her life. Kalli became interested in soccer, and Traci became a devoted soccer mom. Life took them to San Antonio, Texas for about five years, and then to Fresno, California. In 2014 Kalli left Fresno for Louisiana on a sports scholarship to play soccer at Louisiana State University – Alexandria (LSUA), fulfilling a dream for both of them. Traci then moved to back to Northern Nevada for a couple of years to be nearer her sister and to reconnect with old friends. When her liver disease worsened, she returned to San Antonio to be near an excellent liver transplant center and to begin the process of becoming an approved liver transplant recipient. After months of testing, appointments and treatments, she was finally approved and placed on the liver transplant list. Tragically her disease significantly worsened before a liver transplant could happen.
Traci’s bright smile and winning personality made her friends wherever she went. She had many cherished friends and family members all over the West who loved her dearly. She loved life, enjoyed having fun, and had an adventurous spirit. She was a fierce competitor, and loved playing all sorts of games, which she usually won. She was also an extremely devoted soccer fan, first for Kalli, and then for the US Women’s Soccer Team. She and Kalli travelled all over California and Texas for many years as Kalli competed in more and more advanced soccer leagues, culminating in Kalli’s soccer scholarship at LSUA.
Traci was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Pritchett Tellgren, and her father, Glenn R. Tellgren. She is survived by her daughter, Kalli Jean Vollmer, sister, Taralee Beckett, brother-in-law Robert Beckett, brother, Timothy N. Tellgren, sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Tellgren, nephew Jeffrey M. Tellgren, step-mother, Ophelia Tellgren, step-siblings Robert, Ronald, and Rhonda Robey, and many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins.
