William Russell Hunsicker Sr.

William Russell Hunsicker, Sr. passed away on March 1, 2013 at the age of 93. He was born on May 2, 1919 in Champaign, Illinois to Leslie and Ethel "Canaday" Hunsicker. William was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis "Hitchins" Hunsicker; sisters, Yevon Hunsicker; and Hazel Belle Sutton; survived by his son, William R."Bill" Hunsicker, his wife Mary; daughter, Pamela Kay Holder; grandchildren, Phillip Michael Hunsicker, his wife Kimberly, Thurman Grey (Trey) Holder, his wife Stacey, Lisa Michelle Jones, her husband Arlo and William Russell "Bill" Hunsicker III, his wife Rene; niece, Connie Sparks, her husband Bill; great niece, Sally Sutton; and 7 great grand children . He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 as a Carpenter’s Mate Third Class. Until 1960 he was a Contractor in Champaign, IL. From 1960 to 1969 he was a major developer of the southwest quadrant of residential Champaign. He was also a builder, owner and operator of apartment houses in the downtown area. A visitation and funeral service will be held at Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm and the service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
