Wilma Elizabeth Sloan, 91, (Wilma Beth) of Staunton and Fishersville, VA, passed away quietly on October 28, 2011 at about 7:15 PM, in Alexandria Hospital, in Northern Virginia. She was the beloved wife of Lloyd Elmer Sloan, CDR (retired), USN, and devoted mother of her son, Lloyd Reynolds Sloan, of Annandale, VA.
Wilma Beth was the eldest daughter of Albert Reynolds Schuelke and Floriene (Shields) Schuelke and the loving sister of Peggy. Wilma is survived also by three grandchildren, Carey Emil Sloan, Lloyd Robert Sloan and Kathleen Renee Sloan, all living in Northern Virginia.
She will be missed and remembered by her other family from Texas to Arizona to Illinois and by her dear friends in the “Mafia”, bridge clubs, volunteer organizations, MOAA, and Women’s Club. She sorely missed them all while away for medical treatment and always looked forward to returning to them.
Funeral services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:30 AM on November 7, 2011. Wilma Beth will be interred with her husband of 70 years, Lloyd E. Sloan, and will be near her mother’s and father’s resting place in the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wilma Sloan’s memory may be made with our thanks to the American Cancer Society or to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
