William Carl Grant Van Dyke, beloved partner, youngest son and brother, uncle, grand-uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Vancouver, BC, at the age of 60.
Grant was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He lived in Calgary, Sacramento, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Toronto before settling in Vancouver. There he met and fell in love with Annaliza (Lisa). He was a gifted drummer and athlete, excelling in football, baseball, and basketball. He was also an accomplished dancer, specializing in popping and locking, as well as a choreographer and composer, and had some of his music appear in a couple of movies.
Grant was friendly, kind, and giving, with a love of music and a faith in God that carried him through life. He was the kind of person who would take the time to talk to strangers and often befriended the homeless in the neighborhood, giving them food, clothing, and even his last dollar.
He held his family and extended family of friends close to his heart. He often shared vivid stories and joyful memories of growing up, attending school in Sacramento, and playing sports. He devoted countless hours to honing his dance skills. He performed on the West Coast and in Toronto, on stage, in commercials, and in films. He also wrote and collaborated on music late into the night, recording in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Vancouver. Throughout his life, he uplifted many with his positive outlook, especially in his later years.
In his early retirement, Grant liked watching almost all sports, light-hearted comedies, and live concerts. He also enjoyed spending time with family and getting out daily, whenever it didn’t rain, to go to the beach a few blocks from his home. He travelled to Cuba and Costa Rica, which remained one of his favorite destinations. His laughter and smile will be sorely missed.
Grant is survived by his loving partner of 31 years, Lisa, his sister, Barb (Dan), and his brothers, Wayne (Evelyn) and Wes (Kris), along with all their children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, John & Katherine Dyck.
Grant leaves behind a beautiful harmony of faith and love that will continue to inspire everyone who was blessed to know him.
