Born Ada Margaret Clegg in Baltimore, Maryland, she moved to Norfolk, Virginia as a young child and resided in Virginia Beach for most of her adult life. A graduate of Maury High School, she retired as a Deputy Clerk with the Virginia Beach General District Court.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alonzo Wallace Clegg and Reda Nickels, and two brothers, Alonzo Wallace Clegg, Jr. and Ray H. Clegg.
Those left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy are her loving husband of 60 years, Joe C. Bradshaw, Jr.; two sons, Jay Wallace Bradshaw and wife Celia, Scott Dall Bradshaw and wife Kendall; grandchildren Helen Anne Bradshaw, Robert “Robbie” Scott Bradshaw, Lindsay Addison Bradshaw, Morgan Duke Niccoli and husband Ryan; a sister Ruth Beatty and her husband Sam, Sr., and loving nephews, niece, and great nieces.
In addition to her love for her family, she also loved her many dogs and all things Disney. A life-long Democrat, she had a strong sense of fairness and social justice that she instilled in her children. She lived by one of her favorite quotes: “To thine own self be true.”
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ada’s name to the Virginia Beach SPCA at vbspca.com.
