Alona Lee Bevins

Alona “Lee” Bevins, went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2012. She was born on December 16, 1943 in Quincy, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Robert and Dorice Elliott. “Lee” worked for the Department of the Army at the Corps of Engineers in Norfolk and retired with over 30 years of service. She enjoyed reading, shopping, ZUMBA charity events and taking her chance at the slot machines every chance she got but her family was first and foremost in her life. Lee was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in her family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Watt and sister, Flo Dunning.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 43 years, Allan E. Bevins of Virginia Beach; children, Debi Bevins-Udicious, Rick Bevins, Kimberley Bevins and Donna Mattingly; her precious grandchildren, Ashley Bevins-Evans, Brittany Bevins, Courtney Mattingly, Brooke Mattingly, Caroline Bevins and Savannah Bevins; brother, Murray “Scotty” Watt and numerous other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12 ~ 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 22, 2012 in Rosewood~Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4416 Express Drive, Virginia Beach, VA, 23452.
