In loving memory of Althia Vivian Woodson-Robinson, 69, who went to be with the Lord on July 18, 2018. Although she had many earthly accomplishments, Althia will be remembered most for her love of the Lord and her faith in Jesus Christ. Althia was born to Edwin and Clara Woodson in Brooklyn, New York, in 1948. As a young woman, she developed a love of teaching and went on to attend Hampton Institute in Hampton, Virginia, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Secondary Education. Althia eventually earned a Doctor of Philosophy. She was a passionate advocate for the education of children and young adults throughout her life. She served as faculty member and administrator at several institutions, including the University of Vermont and Virginia Wesleyan College, where she touched many lives and developed the college's Academic Skills Department. Althia was also an active board member of the Norfolk YMCA, Virginia Beach Federal Credit Union, and a devoted member of New Life Church in Virginia Beach. Althia enjoyed traveling, serving the community, and listening to good music—but most of all, she loved the Lord.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Rev. Clara Woodson of New York, husband Bertrand Robinson of Norfolk; daughter Laureece Hymes of Maryland; son Paul Woodson of Norfolk; three grandchildren; two brothers; three sisters; and a host of other family members, friends, and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 26, at New Life Church, Kempsville Campus, Virginia Beach. You may offer condolences at www.kellumfuneralhome.com
