Barbara Sumner Hudgins, age 80, died peacefully in her sleep at First Colonial Inn on November 1, 2018, in Virginia Beach, VA.

She is survived by her sons William (Bill) Hudgins, of Virginia Beach,VA; Robert (Stan) Hudgins and daughter in law Laura Cox of Hollywood,FL; her grandchildren Brandon and Heather Hudgins of Virginia Beach, VA; and her three great grandchildren Rylan, Ethan, and Jaxan Alexander of Virginia Beach, VA; her sisters, Jean Baufle and Elva Harvey. She is preceded in death by her sisters Mabel and Dana and niece Gloria.

Barbara was born on July 9, 1938 in Ahoskie, North Carolina to parents Auther Sumner and Raye Hughson. She was a devoted mother and home maker her entire life. Barbara was also a member of the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club and enjoyed golfing and Bingo.

The viewing will be held at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home on Sunday November 4, 2018 from 4-6pm. A funeral is scheduled for Monday November 5, 2018 at 2pm at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home and a reception to follow at 609 Arctic Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Barbara Hudgin’s life. The family would like to thank the staff at First Colonial Inn for there excellent care and loving compassion. In lieu flowers the family encourages donations to the National Diabetes Association via www.nationaldiabetesaccociation.org.
