Betty Anne Atterbury was born on September 25th, 1935 as the youngest of 8 children, to George and Mary Shelton in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Betty Anne was predeceased by her parents and seven siblings including brothers Sherman, Joe, Warren, and Gerald, and sisters Natalie, Reba and Rae Alice.
Betty Anne was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Betty Anne met the love of her life Welton at a young age, and they were blessed with 58 years of marriage, raising 4 children, Alan, Aaron, Jacqueline, and Kristen and 3 grandchildren, Alana, Christina, and Kristopher.
Betty Anne was a well-respected medical laboratory technologist during her career at Temple University Hospital. A member of the Philadelphia Kroc Center, she was active in the Golden Gems Senior Group where she amassed many friends who were an extended family to her. Guided by her faith and desire to help others, she touched many lives through her selfless and giving spirit. She had a natural ability to bring people together through her cooking, crafts and humor. Her love of travel led her around the country, the Caribbean and Japan.
Betty Anne deeply loved and was loved deeply by her family. Betty Anne is survived by her husband Welton Atterbury, son Alan and his wife Tracey, son Aaron his wife Adriene, daughter Jacqueline, daughter Kristen and her husband Alfred, grandchildren Alana, Christina and Kristopher, and a host of friends left to cherish her memory.
