Betty was born March 18, 1934 to the late Merle and Willie Roberts in Deep Creek, VA. She will leave behind a legacy of love, hard work and dedication. Betty loved spending time with her family. Grandma Bet was an angel among us and has given us a model to follow. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, spending time working in her flower gardens, knitting and crocheting and she was an avid duckpin bowler. Betty will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed. Betty is preceded in death by a son, sweet little Buster. Betty graduated from Norview High School in 1952. She was president of P.T.A’s at Sherwood Forest Elementary and Kellam High School. She and her husband started D.E. Kirby, Inc. Betty later owned Knitting Machines and Yarns by Bet.
Left to cherish her memory are: her husband of 60 years, David E. Kirby; son, Bob Kirby and wife Michelle of Edenton, N.C.; daughter, Virginia “Ginny” Pollock and husband Tom of Chesapeake, VA; daughter, Cindy Bigelow and husband Ronnie of Chesapeake, VA; son, Dan Kirby and wife Beth of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren: Alice Kirby, Jennifer Gibbons and husband Pat, Sarah Kirby, Leanna Bigelow, Ben Bigelow, Wesley Bigelow, Curtis Kirby and Stephanie Kirby; brother, John Roberts and wife Martha and brother, Jimmie Roberts and wife Joyce and several nieces and nephews.
