Born February 13, 1929 in Gretna, Va. She was the daughter of the late Earl C. George and Bessie Colbert George.
Mrs. Wiley-Jones life reflected her love of Jesus Christ. She was a loving mother, and wife. She attended Cincinnati Bible Seminar with a focus on biblical studies, and education. Her love for people and teaching were evident throughout her life as she taught in primary and senior high school as a substitute teacher, she taught in church and home bible studies most of her life. During the early years of CBN she worked as a phone prayer counselor, she was in charge of the Prayer Room ministry at CBN for many years. She was also involved the International Women’s Aglow Ministry, Virginia Beach Chapter, and later the Lynchburg Chapter, either teaching or working in whatever capacity she could serve. She truly believed, and her life reflected Matthew 28, instructing us to go and make disciples of all the nations; this led to mission trips to Romania, Austria, Hungary, India, and Mexico.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 23 years Reverend James Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edward Lee Wiley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Gerald George, A. T. George, Earl Chris George and her sisters Aliese Haynes, Earleen Craddock, Claudette George and Jean George.
To cherish her memory, she is survived by her sons Phillip Wiley (Sharlene) of Rustburg VA, Stephen Wiley (Roberta) of Chesapeake VA, and Andrew Wiley (Teresa) of Forest VA; Grandchildren Sharon Minard (David), Dalina Wiley-Belcher (Clayton), Krystal Caputo- Mulder (Phillip), Frank Caputo (Brittany), John Caputo (Britany), and 18 Great Grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Runk and Pratt Liberty Ridge and Hospice of Virginia for their care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at West Park Church of Christ, 926 Cherokee Rd, Portsmouth, VA 2370, on Tuesday, 11:00am February 13, 2024. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00am at the church. Following the service a reception from 12:00-2:00PM for all family and friends will be held at the church.
A graveside service will follow reception at 3:00 PM at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.
