Billy Lee Polley, 82, passed away on June 15, 2018. He was born in Winston Salem, NC to the late Harry and Omega Polley. Bill served his country in the US Air Force after finishing High School. He received a Master’s Degree from Old Dominion University. For 30 years Bill worked as an educator and principal for the Norfolk public school system. During much of this time Bill also worked as a realtor. His love of business and real estate were one of his greatest passions. Bill enjoyed going to thrift stores, yard sales, and estate sales, always looking for a treasure and a good deal. He was a lover of card games and was known for his competitive nature. Bill thoroughly enjoyed laughter and being involved in good times. He also enjoyed the companionship of his little pug “Princess”. More recently, he enjoyed attending music concerts and spending time with his friend Dan. Bill traveled with friends to Delaware to play the slots at the casinos. He often stated he thoroughly enjoyed his retirement.
Left to cherish his memory is his family, Jeffrey Bass (Debbie) and Joseph Bass of Virginia Beach, Jan P. Scott and Ronnie Polley of North Carolina, friend and companion Dan Martin of Portsmouth and a host of other family and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Forsyth Memorial Park, Winston Salem, NC at a later date. In lieu of flowers; donations may be made to your local SPCA.
