He proudly served 38 years in the U.S. Navy, starting as a Seaman and ending his career as a Captain in the Medical Service Corps. He served his country with distinction throughout his career; on two occasions earning the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal, and earning the Legion of Merit in1993. After leaving the Navy, he worked as Chief Financial Officer for Hospital Corp. of America until his full retirement in 2002. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf. Carl got a BS in Business Administration and Management from U of Maryland and an MS in Human Relations from Golden Gate University.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Myrna, his son, Robert, his daughter, Cathi, his parents, Clyde and Ellen, and his brother, Paul.
Carl is survived by his daughter, Shelley, his sister, Susan, his granddaughter, Marianne, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on January 8, 2025 at 10am at the Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home in Virginia Beach, VA.
