Carl was born in Bridgeport, Tennessee to James and Margaret Nicholson. Carl retired as a chief from the USN and went on to retire from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Among other jobs he enjoyed over the years was managing various grocery stores around Norfolk and Virginia Beach. In his leisure time he enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. He and his love were able to travel the US extensively and enjoyed several cruises together. After Shirley's passing he stayed close to home spending time with family and enjoying all that the Hampton Roads Area had to offer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret; his treasured and beloved wife, Shirley; his sisters, Martha and Mary and almost all of his dear sister and brother in laws.
He is survived by his most treasured blessing his son, Carl F. Nicholson and daughter-in-love, Tanya, his T-Bird; his dearest grandson, CJ and wife Amy; granddaughters, Rebecca (Brandon) and Morgan; last but definitely not least, his 7 great grandchildren, Shelby, Carl, Alyssa, Staley, Michael, Remington and Ashton.
Graveside service will be at noon on March 23, 2024 at Rosewood-Kellum in Virginia Beach. Following the service, family and friends will gather at Carl's home in Virginia Beach to celebrate his life and memory.
