Carolyn Ann Gardner

Carolyn A. Gardner quietly entered eternal rest to be with Jesus on Thursday July 2nd, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on February 12th, 1944, to the late Marie Millet Williams and the late Burnis Cavniess, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Carolyn graduated from Walter L. Cohen Senior High in uptown New Orleans on June 3rd, 1964.

After graduation, Carolyn enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1964, serving her country for three years at Camp Le Jeune, North Carolina. While in the Marine Corps, she met and married her husband, Donald Gardner. To this union their daughter, Deedra Marie Gardner was born in 1965.

Carolyn enjoyed baking lots of goodies and sending them all over the country to family and friends. She enjoyed bargain shopping in store and through QVC and HSN. She enjoyed visiting family in Louisiana and California and watching western (cowboy) movies and Christian comedians.

Carolyn always enjoyed spending time with her wonderful friends (especially on her birthday) Trudy, Ingrid, Joan, Charlotte, Keith, and Brenda. She was very close to her neighbors Barbara and Inez, as well as Quan in the office complex. She really enjoyed visiting restaurants for their freebies on Veterans Day annually.

Carolyn was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ until her passing. She always witnessed to those she came into contact, often handing them a tract. She loved the Lord with all her body, mind, soul and spirit. We know she was greeted with “Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant.” She was a faithful member of Kempsville Presbyterian Church for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Deedra Gardner, her sister Rose Charbonnet, and brothers Tyrone and Jerome Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, in-laws, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Kempsville Presbyterian Church with a funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be private in A.G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
