

She is survived by her younger brother, Gary Jackson (Joann); her children, Lynn Phillips (Robin), Kent Phillips (Aimee), and Heather Gordon (Craig); and her niece, Sharon Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jan C. Jackson (Shirley); and her grandson, Jeffery Hunter Phillips.
She was a loving grandmother, known as “Mamaw” to her grandchildren: Joshua, Jordan, Jeremy, Joey, Hunter, Morgan, Kiera, and Kaleigh. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends who were blessed to know her.
Carolyn was a dedicated and hardworking woman, spending 25 years at Christian Broadcasting Network and CBN/Regent University. She also worked for the City of Virginia Beach and the Virginia Beach Public Library.
Above all, Carolyn loved the Lord Jesus. She lived an upright life led by the Holy Spirit, praying and sending praises often. She was giving and selfless with the little she had. If she knew you had a need, chances are she prayed for you.
Carolyn remained positive even through difficult times. Laughter and joking were a contagious part of her life. She took great care of her mother at the end of her life. She was a devoted daughter and sister, a loving mother, a caring aunt, and a faithful friend.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is at peace in the presence of Jesus.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462, on September 12, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
