Constance “Connie” Hepburn Curtis Lyons, 89, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Born in Chester, Virginia, she and her husband Max lived in the same home on Bay Island since 1953.
She worshipped and served in both Rock Church and Cape Henry Church. Connie lived a bountiful life of labor, service, love, and ministry. She was a gifted and creative Christian educator who taught Sunday school as well as her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Always focused on God and others, she exemplified Matthew 10:38, “If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give it up for me (Jesus), you will save it.”
She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Percy Curtis, her brother Bub Curtis, and her son-in-law Robert “Bob” Burgess. Left to carry on her legacy of love and service are Maxwell “Max” Tanner Lyons, her husband of 64 years, four children and spouses, Terry Lyons Burgess, Margie and Max Lyons, Cheryl and Mike Lyons, Sarah and Hank Richards, and 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
We will celebrate her life of constant devotion to the Lord, family and others on Saturday, April 1st at 1 pm at Cape Henry Church in Virginia Beach.
