

“Connie” retired from the U.S. Navy after serving 22 years as a musician in the Naval Marching Band and in the School of Music. He also retired from the VA Department of Taxation. He was a faithful member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and their choir. He served the Lord faithfully. He was a lovely husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He was involved in many charities, loved playing golf and most of all making music. He was a 1983 graduate of ODU. He was a special father and grandfather that was devoted to his family. He was a man that loved making people smile with his humor.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, John Lee; daughter, Helen Maria Truelove; grandchildren, Jennifer Bourgeois and husband André, Jacklyn E. Truelove, and Kriss L. Truelove Jr.; brothers, Ronnie (Rheba), Michael (Joy), and Orin (Susan); and many nieces, nephews, and loving family. Connie will be missed greatly by the family he adored.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wed., March 2, 2016 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Virginia Beach with burial to follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. You may offer condolences to the family at www.kellumfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's foundation.
