

Cyntha McPherson Maxwell passed away peacefully on January 11, 2013. She was born on January 17, 1947 in Norfolk, Virginia. She was predeceased by her father, James McPherson, her mother, Irma McPherson, and her brother John McPherson.
She is survived by her loving husband and soul mate of 29 years, Eddie Lee Maxwell, Sr. other survivors include two sisters, Anne Ward and Mary Merner. Her six children will miss her very much: Jennifer Ann Maxwell, James Matthew Green, Eddie Lee Maxwell Jr., Scott Douglas Maxwell, Timothy Wayne Maxwell, and Daniel Allen Maxwell and eight grandchildren Eddie Lee Maxwell, III, Ashley Maxwell, Ryan Maxwell, Timmy Maxwell, Nathan Maxwell, Aimee Maxwell, Sarah Green, and Tristyn Maxwell.
She spent 29 years as a dedicated teacher in the Virginia Beach Public School System, where she influenced many elementary students to become lifelong readers. She retired from the school system in 2001, to spend more time with her ailing father. She became very active in a service organization dedicated to helping St. Jude Children's Hospital. This organization, ESA, Epsilon Sigma Alpha became very important to her. She rose among the ranks as the Virginia State President. She was an extremely talented woman who could sew, knit, and crochet, among many other skills she possessed. She created teddy bears, scarves, hats, jewelry, and socks to name a few. She will be missed dearly by all her friends and family including her babies, "Charlie" and "Heidi". In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 18, 2013 Thailia Lynn Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
