Dorothy Alice Bristow Armstrong

Dorothy Bristow Armstrong, 85, passed away on December 16, 2019. She was born on February 17, 1934 to the late Dorothy and Berkley Bristow in Norfolk , VA. She leaves behind her brother, Berkley B. Bristow, Jr. and sisters, Janet Bristow Hogwood, and Genevieve Bristow Staley; all of Chesapeake, Va. Douglas E. Armstrong, her husband of 41 years, preceded her in death.

Dorothy, "Dot", was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all her family and those who knew her. Dorothy graduated from Maury High School and afterwards worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company. Family was her number one priority and she enjoyed providing a comfortable and loving home. Among many things, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, crafting, reading and bowling. She also loved to play card games and scrabble.

She is survived by her children, Gale A. Nuckols and husband, Fitz, of Virginia Beach, Va. Kelly A. Yost and husband, Jim, of Virginia Beach, Va. Mark D. Armstrong and husband, David Coscia, of Los Angeles, CA; and Brian E. Armstrong and wife Jennifer of Edenton, NC. Her daughter, Jeannine Armstrong Kinzel predeceased her in August of 2010.

Blessed by having a large family, Dorothy leaves behind an abundance of loving and adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving their grandmother are Jennifer P. Brown and husband Kevin, Douglas A. Nuckols and wife Shannon, Thomas F. Nuckols and wife Achsa, William L. Nuckols and wife Shannon. Tyler W. Yost, Drew Armstrong, Brady Armstrong, Alexa E. Kinzel, Brenna E. Kinzel and Cade J. Kinzel. Surviving their great-grandmother are Ava T. Brown, Lia K. Brown, Marissa G. Brown, Lydia P. Nuckols, G. L. Nuckols, Zachary Beatty and Blake Sheldon.

Dorothy, affectionately known as "Dot", "Mom", "Nan/Nanu" will be missed beyond measure by all her family and friends. May she rest in God's eternal, everlasting light and love and know his peace.
