A native New Yorker, Mrs. Basnight moved to Virginia Beach in 1984 with her husband Jim and son Jason. Dot loved shopping whether it be in a grocery store, mall, thrift store or going to a garage sale. She was a FANTASTIC bargain finder.
Survivors include her daughter Ginger Basnight and son Jason E. Basnight both of Virginia Beach, and son James A. Basnight III and his wife Lynn of East Norwich, New York. Two grandchildren James A Basnight IV and finance Meghan Kull and Amy Lynn Basnight all of East Norwich, New York. Sister Virginia Staffire and husband Patrick of Virginia Beach. Many nieces and nephews and her Super Grand Kitty Fleetwood.
Dot was predeceased by her husband of 58 years James A. Basnight Jr. and her baby sister Marjorie Strout and husband Bill. Son-in-law Edward A. Basnight.
A wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother and friend who will be missed by many.
There will be no funeral per Dot’s request. Please remember me as I was and all the fun we had together.
