Virginia Beach – Dorothy May Eastman, 82, passed away April 27, 2012. She was born February 23, 1930 in Channel – Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, Canada to the late Victor and Josie Billard. She was the widow of Richard Earl Eastman, a career member of the military (United States Coast Guard).
Dorothy’s family and friends will always remember her as being a fiercely independent woman who enjoyed being with family, tending to her yard and garden whenever the weather permitted and knitting when she could not be outside. She was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church where she enjoyed fellowship for more than 30 years and served as a member of the Altar Guild.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Richard W. Eastman and his wife Sandy; daughter, Brenda J. Eastman; brothers, Robert Billard and Maxwell Billard; sisters, Allie Pike and Laura Tevault; granddaughter, Vanessa Poche; step-grandsons Chuck Harrell (wife Suzi) and John Harrell (wife Nikki); and great-grandchildren, Raven, Skyler, Sierra, Will, Wesley, Cherokee, and Shae.
In honor of Dorothy's wishes, services will be private.
