Dorothy Best McDaniel

Mrs. Dorothy Jennings Best McDaniel of Chesapeake, VA departed this life on March 11, 2019. She was the daughter of Wilbur Jennings and Dorothy Modlin Best. Dorothy was born in Norfolk, VA, raised in Berkley, and graduated from Maury High School. Dorothy was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished her family and pets. Her life was a living example of the bible verse Ephesians 4:32 – And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another just as God also forgave you in Christ. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; husband, Earl Franklin McDaniel Jr.; daughter, Kerry Jean McDaniel; and sister, Sherrie Lee Baydowicz. She is survived by her devoted children, Earl F. McDaniel III (JoAnn) and D. Lynne McDaniel; sister, Marion “Dennie” Markham (Forrest); caregivers, Jennifer Dautin and Mildred Gloria “Momma’s Angels;” three granddaughters, Elizabeth McDaniel Harris (James), Rebecca McDaniel Robertson (Scott), and Kathryn McDaniel Lewis (Mathew); great-grandchildren, Noah Robertson, Abigail Harris, William Harris, and Mercy Lewis; and a host of several nieces and nephews. Please join us for a celebration of life on Sunday, March 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462 with a reception to follow.
