Dorothy Allen Swanner

Virginia Beach - Dorothy Allen Swanner, 95, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 21, 2015. She was born to the late Glover and Rita Allen. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanette Rogerson; brothers, Ray and Bill Allen; and sisters, Cassie O’Brien and Thelma Montgomery. Dorothy was a loving, kind, and generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, great-great-great grandmother, and friend. Her hobbies included traveling and gardening. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was co-owner of Swanner’s Market.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Faye Gobel (Gary); son, Clarence Swanner Jr. (Chris); 10 grandchildren, Brenda Greene, Sandra Rogerson, Connie Savage, Jimmy Rogerson, Scott Swanner, Craig Swanner, Bill Davis, Stacy Archambault, Mark Gobel, and Brian Gobel; 19 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great-great grandchild; sisters, Catherine Craft and Carol Skinner; and brothers, Frank Allen and Ronnie Allen.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28th, 2015 at Rosewood- Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Va Beach, VA with a visitation one hour prior.
