Dorthey Ann Lickingteller Russell, better known as Dottie, passed away on June 29, 2025 at the age of 77, or as she would say, 14 years old (7+7). Dottie was born on July 17, 1947 in Vale, SD to the late Lewis Lickingteller and Annie Sinner Lickingteller. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1970, where she met her late husband, George.
Dottie was well known for sending letters and cards to her friends and family for special occasions. She loved reading, country music, playing solitaire, Eeyore, and spending time with her granddaughters.
She is predeceased by her husband, George; her sister, Minnie Lamphear; and her brother, Bill Lickingteller. She is survived by her son, Thomas; daughter-in-law, Kimberlie; her granddaughters, Brittany and Abigail; her brother, Robert Lickingteller; sister, Judith Lickingteller Kinsfather; her foreign exchange granddaughter, Melis Inal Gürsoy; as well as many other friends she met along the way, all of whom she considered family.
Services will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Rosewood-Kellum funeral home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
