Edward Lee was one of 5 brothers, born to Jacob and Emma Moore in Southwest Virginia. He is survived by one brother, Jack Moore .Ed married the love of his life, Madeline Elizabeth Jones while on leave during the war. Ed was veteran of WWII and retired from the Norfolk Naval Base. He and a friend started one of the first TV repair shops (Snug Harbor Electronics) in Norfolk. Ed’s business provided jobs for his children who were eager to enter the working world. He sold the business when his last child (Sherry) was born. By that time, his older children had solid work experience to continue working during their high school years.
He was a devoted husband to his wife Madeline Elizabeth, whom he deeply loved and tenderly cared for in her much too early death. He was father to five children, Robert Lee Moore, Rita Jane Moore Krasnow, Rebecca Louise Moore Ayers, Wayne Edward Moore, and Sherry Anne Moore Erickson. He is survived by all 5 children and their spouses: Barbara Moore, Jeff Krasnow, Allen Ayers, Cindy Moore and Loren Erickson.
Ed was very proud of the strong families that all of his children founded through their marriages. He enjoyed his grandchildren (Janet Moore Schaffer, Brian Moore, Julie Moore, Mark Krasnow, Daniel Krasnow, William Ayers, Leigh Ayers, Jennifer Brinn, Kelly Coley, Brandon Moore and Brooke Madeline Erickson) as well great grandchildren (Chris Shaffer, Phoenix Moore, Marley Krasnow, Kai Krasnow, Dalton Brinn, Ashlynn Brinn, Griffin Brinn and Christian Coley),
He taught himself to become a successful investor in real estate and in the stock market. Instead of hobbies, he enjoyed developing skills and activities that brought the family together – boating, water skiing, fishing, camping, snow skiing, bike riding, bowling. Ed raised his youngest daughter, Sherry. He shared with her and many other family members camping trips including Alaska, Mexico, Canada, a shuttle launch from Kennedy Space Center and NASCAR races.
His flowers welcomed everyone to his front door as well as to his back deck. Until the last few years of his life, Ed could be found doing his own household repairs for rental properties as well as for other family members. Ed enjoyed his dogs, Hans, Nimmo and Mitzi who added much joy and wonderful exercise to Ed’s life. He shared many dog walks with his adult children and their dogs. He was a remarkable man who leaves a large family, many friends and neighbors with wonderful memories and sayings that will keep us smiling as we remember him.
