

Gerri Phillips Quinn, 76, passed away on February 23, 2014. She was born November 1937 in Denver, Co to the late Robert G. and Amy W. Fuller. She is predeceased by her first husband, John D. Phillips, and second husband William N. Quinn.
She retired from the City of Virginia Beach with 23 years of service. Gerri received her cosmetology certification while still attending high school. She went on to graduate from business school in Charleston, W. VA while working for a local newspaper in the circulation dept. and as a model. Gerri attended TCC and eventually earned her certification as a paralegal.
Gerri was always active in community service, beginning with Rainbow Girls, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and many years in the Little Creek Lions Club, where she held several board positions.
She is survived by her son, John D. Phillips, and daughters Suzy Phillips, Debbie East, Denise O'Connell, Valerie Quinn Kallam and husband Steve, and Becky Quinn Bolton; sister and best friend, Amy White of Mesa, AZ; nieces Amy Flenniken and Heather Ronk; nephew Danny Lennon; as well as many other loving nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren Bonnie Anthony and husband Chad, Shawn East, Justin Kanter and wife Karla, Lindsey Kallam, Stephanie Carrithers, David Carrithers and wife Lavanya, Silas Bolton and wife Tara, Joshua Davenport and wife Samantha, Matthew Davenport and wife Christi, Sarah Davenport, Kathryn Quinn Silva and husband Anthony, Donna Evans and husband Dan; 14 great grandchildren, Joseph East, Evan Anthony, Jack Anthony, Graham Try Reeves, Kaleb Bolton, Khloe Bolton, Spencer Stephens, Ryan Davenport, Quinn Emerson Davenport, Ashton Quinn, Jameson Silva, Emma Silva, Rodolfo Vargas and Mira Carrithers; and many friends. Especially those “Wild Woman of West Neck".
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 1 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., VA Beach, VA., interment to follow.
A gathering of family and friends will follow the service at Valerie's house. If not attending graveside go directly to Valerie's. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Sight and Hearing Unit, 2126 Wake Forest St., VA Beach, VA 23451. Although she wasn’t born in the South, she was a true Steel Magnolia.
