July 23, 2010 after a long and courageous battle. She was born in
Oneida, New York and graduated from Owego Free Academy. She married
Claude E. Blanchard in 1972 and traveled with him throughout his
entire military career to numerous U.S. states and even to Scotland.
She was a wonderful mother who raised three children: Claude M.
Blanchard, Michael Morris Blanchard, and Tamara Lynn Clark all of
Virginia Beach. She adored her son-in-laws, Craig Tilden and Robert
Dean Clark Jr. as well as her daughter-in-law, Emily Painter. She took
great pride in her three grandchildren: Robert Dean Clark III, Gage
Andrew Blanchard, and Dylan Matthew Clark. She was anxiously awaiting
the birth of a fourth grandchild due in January 2011. We take great
comfort in knowing that she will watch over her family from heaven
always.
She is predeceased by three sisters: Catherine, Theresa and June
Baker. She is survived by loving mother, Keitha Garland of Camden, NY;
her father, Morris Baker of Syracuse, NY; her loving brothers and sisters,
brother and sister-in-laws, as well as countless friends and neighbors. She was
truly one-of-a-kind and loved by all. She also loved and cherished her
amazing family at Oaklette United Methodist Church in Chesapeake,
Virginia.
The family also wishes to extend all of their love and thanks to the
Oncology Department at Portsmouth Naval Hospital and the hospice team
at Sentara for being so wonderful and for fighting right along side of
each of us.
The family will receive friends and family at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral
Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd. in Virginia Beach on Sunday, July 25 from 7
to 9 p.m. A church service will be held at Oaklette United Methodist
Church, 520 Oaklette Drive in Chesapeake on Monday, July 26 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oaklette United
Methodist Church in honor of our hero, Elizabeth.
