Elsie Mae Sawyer, our beautiful Mom, 87, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior and to join her beloved husband Otis O. Sawyer and her only son Alan K. Sawyer.
She will be forever remembered by her two daughters, Katherine O. Richardson and husband Allan, Janice F. Litchfield and husband Eddie. Her greatest joy in life was spoiling her grandchildren as they were growing up. Her grandchildren include Joseph O. Richardson and wife Shirley; Jason A. Richardson; Jessica N. Krizek and husband Justin; Jacob R. Litchfield and Trey Dyer-Sawyer and her great-granddaughter, Kailey Hope Richardson.
She also leaves behind to cherish her memory three sisters, one brother and many nieces and nephews. She was loving, kind and caring and always made her family the center of her life. She instilled good values, manners, love and respect in her children. She was the best Mom ever and always had time, hugs and kisses for her “sugars”.
The family is grateful for the loving care and support given to her by the staff at Consulate Healthcare of Norfolk and her many new friends who loved her and watched over her. She was a strong woman who overcame many challenges in life and as she faced Alzheimer’s she kept her gratitude, dignity, loving smile and sense of humor to the very end.
Services will be private. Revelations 21:4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain for the former things have passed away. Hakuna Matata.
