Ena Taylor Reed

Ena Taylor Reed, 91, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2012 in her home with her family by her side. She was a native of Norfolk where she resided all of her life. She was a volunteer with Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for more than twenty eight years. Her work in the in- House Hospice Unit was her most rewarding experience. Her kind manner and caring nature made her a devoted volunteer.

Ena was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Helping Hands Group. She loved singing in the church choir. She lived each and every day walking the life of a true Christian.

She graduated from Maury High School, where she met her husband, Skeeter. She continued her education graduating from Mary Baldwin College.

Ena is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, George Face Reed, Sr.(Skeeter), their three children, George Face Reed, Jr.(Jeff), Kerry Taylor Reed and his wife Patricia, Cynthia Reed Stanley, three grandchildren, Cristen Elizabeth Cross, Taylor and Tiffiny Reed, one great grandson, Kai, a niece, Missy Aue and a first cousin, Betty Glass.

The family would like to express their heart-felt gratitude to the following care-givers for their love and devotion shown to our Mom: Carol, Rebecca, and Kim, Tammy and Karen.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church 5767 Sellger Dr., Norfolk.
