

CWO2 (USN Ret) Eugene Joseph Gorman, Sr., a proud U. S. Navy veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor went on to his next great adventure on November 13, 2012 at the age of 93. He was the son of the late Owen and Maybelle Gorman and the devoted husband of 41 years to the late Marion Turner Gorman.
A native of New York City, Gene left there in 1939 to begin his career in the Navy. After his retirement from the Navy, he began a second career in the insurance business. He loved to reminisce about his military experiences and often regaled his family with his colorful stories. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. Gene will be remembered with great pride and affection by the many people he touched during his life, and the family he adored and so deeply loved.
Gene is survived by his loving children, Patricia Lynn Gorman Zirkle (John), Eugene Joseph Gorman, Jr. (Dianne), Mary Kathryn Gorman, Phillip Michael Gorman (Sherry), Nina Marie Gorman Ambrose (Tommy) and Susan Frances Gorman Franklin (Larry). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 19, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, 11:30 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd, followed by burial at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staffs of Marian Manor and Heartland Hospice for the kindness, compassion and care given to our dad.
