

Eunice Carroll Wesley, known as "Wes," passed away on May 8, 2025, at the age of 94 in Chesapeake, Virginia. Born on January 9, 1931, in Ansel, Kentucky, Eunice was one of six children of Lincoln Wesley and Bannie (Spears) Wesley. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Camilla (Haggard) Wesley. Wes was also the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Wes lived a long life, defined by love and family. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patty (Carpenter) Wesley, whose partnership brought him joy and companionship throughout their years together.
Wes will forever be cherished by his children: Jane (Neil) Yaeger, Jo (John) Hamilton, and Ray (Katy) Emerson. His grandchildren fondly remember him as a source of kindness and warmth, including Avery (Mark) Edwards, Ashlee (John) Yawn, Caroline Hamilton, Emily Yaeger, and Samuel Yaeger. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including a special bond with Glenda (Jimmy) Griffen.
Wes was raised in Casey County, Kentucky, where he spent his early years working on the family farm. As a teenager, he enlisted in the Navy. After 22 years of dedicated service, he retired from the rank of Chief.
Following his time in the Navy, Wes used his skills toward a trade in automotive mechanics. He worked for Phillips Olds and Hoff Cadillac before opening his own shop. Wes had a remarkable knack for fixing just about anything, a skill that endeared him to all who knew him.
Outside of work, Wes enjoyed painting, particularly the country landscapes that reflected the area he grew up in. He enjoyed country and bluegrass music. Mostly, he loved bringing smiles to his grandchildren and great grands.
Though Wes had no biological children, he was surrounded by a large family that adored him. His kindness, resourcefulness, and unwavering support made him a cherished patriarch whose legacy will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
A graveside service will be held at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia, scheduled for 2:00 PM, Monday, May 19, 2025. Family, friends, and loved ones are welcomed to join in commemorating and celebrating the life of Eunice Carroll Wesley.
