Mrs. Shorter was born in Edgecombe County, NC. She was preceded in death by husbands Johnny Harris and Robert Shorter. She was a member of Colonial Heights Church of Christ in Norfolk for 65 years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, shopping and playing cards with friends.
Survivors include 4 children James W. Harris and wife Delores, Anita Carthine Manship, Roger J. Harris and wife Susan and Ricky T. Harris; 10 grandchildren Lisa Rudd and husband Wayne, Charlene Wise and husband Robert, Anthony Manship and wife Amy, Tonia Smith and husband Jeff, Michael Harris and fiancé Rianna, Steven Harris and fiancé Ashley, Nicholas Harris, Jessica Renteria and husband Fidel, Bradley Harris and Shelley Tillman; 15 great grandchildren, Travis Manship and wife JoAnn, Nicole Greene and husband Christopher, Sarah Mayo, Josh Rudd and wife Ashley, Ethan Rudd, Michael Wise and wife Shanna, Eric Wise and wife Alison, Ashley Harrell and husband Roman, Gage Martin, Savannah Manship, Brandan Walsingham and wife Rachel, Sloane Harris, Dewey Smith, Jonah Smith and Dalton Tillman; 21 great-great grandchildren, Lizzie, Landon, Bella, Cash, McKinley, Kailey, Breelie, Brooklyn, Breana, Braelie, Ryan, Raylan, Austin, Hunter, River, Noah, Destiny, Kason, Trevor, Julie and Emily.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home where a Celebration of Life will be held on Monday at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park and a reception will follow in the funeral home.
