Evelyn Todd Plumlee, 84, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in her home surrounded by 12 members of her loving family after a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer's, in a room filled with the kind of love she had cultivated and exemplified over a lifetime. Evelyn is survived by her husband of 65 years, Douglas; children Suzie Spedden (Gary), Todd Plumlee (Gayle) and Eric Plumlee (Mandi); grandchildren Megan Spedden, Brandon Plumlee (Deb), Evan Plumlee (Hannah), Allie Plumlee Clark (Conner), Emmie Plumlee, Dalton Plumlee, Nattie Plumlee, Libbie Plumlee; great grandchildren Colton, Zeke, Ezra and Ethan; sister Jody Davis (Ronnie); and other extended family members. Evelyn is predeceased by her parents Archie and Edna Todd and her brother, Eddie Todd.
Evelyn began her career as a bookkeeper at 19 years old working for Planter's Peanuts, and over the years she blessed a number of companies with her excellent and trustworthy skills: Foremost Industries, Commercial Building Service, Virginia Natural Gas, Sentara and MacDonald, Plumlee & Overton. More importantly she was committed to the church and had a beautiful voice which she used to worship the Lord in the choirs of several of the area churches, including Elizabeth River Baptist Church and King's Grant Baptist Church.
What Evelyn will most be remembered for, however, is that she was an amazing lady who lived her life unabashedly loving the Lord and her family. Words cannot express the beauty of her soul and the healing touch she brought to those in distress. Her kind heart, compassionate spirit, Godly wisdom and humble, Christ-like spirit were both a comfort and an inspiration to her family and to all those who were blessed to know her. It is impossible to overstate how devoted she was to her husband and family, always eager to show her love and support through sacrificial travel, countless school programs, ball games and recitals or even a wordless conversation where she simply made herself present and available. She was truly one of a kind who leaves a legacy of sacrificial love to a family she led to eternal salvation through Jesus Christ and to friends and colleagues she touched over her lifetime.
A visitation for Evelyn will be held on February 11, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home located at 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
