Obituary of Fendel King
It is with great sadness that on the afternoon of February 21, 2019 surrounded by his wife and family, Fendel King of Hertford, NC passed away after a short battle with cancer at the age of 73.   Fendel was born on April 11, 1945 along with his twin brother, Sidney, in Portsmouth, VA to Olivette and Sidney Fendel King (who he will finally meet in heaven due to WWII.)   Fendel grew up in Norfolk, VA and attended Norview High School.  Fendel worked in the construction industry and was a member of the Norfolk Carpenters Local Union 613. He took pride in being part of the building of many of the residential communities in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Fendel was a loving husband and father. He cherished the time spent with his children, grand and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, Nascar, and cooking for his family.   Fendel is survived by his wife of 50 years, Emily; five children, Phillip Harden and his wife Margie, Belinda Harden, Tammy Harden, Troy King and his wife Dennise, and Sidney King and his wife Lucia; ten grandchildren, Jerrod, Jessica, Amanda, Kyle, Katie, Jordan, Emilyanne, Cody, Kaithlyn and Bailey; eleven, great-grandchildren, Emelia, Madilyn, Abigale, Anthony, Richard, Alizabeth, Robert, Carly, Leon, Lilly, Audrianna; six siblings, Sidney King, Mike Bradshaw and his wife Pauline, Sheila Stewart and her husband Gene, Ada Moore and her husband Bobby, Barbara Jean Lewis and her husband Jim, and John Bradshaw and his wife Cheryl. Fendel was predeceased by his mother, Olivette Bradshaw; father, Sidney Fendel King; great granddaughter, Isabella; sister, Patricia Hinze and her husband Pete; and sister-in-law, Linda King.   The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2019 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road.   A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
