Florence Julia Hoff

Florence J. Hoff, 86 of Orangeburg, NY, died Tuesday, January 29, 2014. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on Sept 29, 1927 to Benjamin & Julia Sinicki. She married the late Vernon P. Hoff in 1946. She lived and raised a family in Orangeburg for 50 yrs before relocating to Virginia Beach, VA Florence was a long time parishioner of St. Catherine’s Parish in Blauvelt, NY. She was very proud of her job caring for the sick and elderly Sisters of St. Dominic’s Convent. She loved bowling, bingo and fun trips to Atlantic City, NJ with her family and friends. Florence is survived by her four daughters: Clare A. Hoff of Virginia Beach; Nancy & Rick Baldwin of Kendall, NY; Laura & Frank Ortega of Covina, CA; and Julia & Jim Lamey of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Baldwin-Swisher of N.C.; Joseph Baldwin of Ohio; Elena Ortega of CA; Frank Ortega of CA; James Lamey, Jr. of Indiana; Jason Lamey of VA; Hiroko Burch of VA. As well as six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 11 to 12 Monday, February 3, 2014 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home with a funeral service following at 12:00 pm. Memorial donations can be made to Beth Sholom Village, 6401 Auburn Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23464 or Hospice & Palliative Care of Tidewater, 260 Grayson Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462, the people of whom took immense care in making Florence’s time there peaceful and comfortable.
