Frances Copeland, of Chesapeake, Virginia, has gone to be “in the arms of Jesus” after living a life victoriously with undiagnosed congestive heart failure and COPD. She told everyone she was working on her 80th year.
She was preceded by her father and mother, Ford and Helen Miller and son, Michael Copeland - all of whom she is eager to see in heaven.
She leaves behind two children, Wayne Copeland and Cindy Tudor and their spouses Lynne Copeland and Sonny Tudor. She was blessed with four grandchildren, who were her pride and joy: Hannah Tudor, Luke Copeland, Michael Copeland and Sarah Tudor. All of her family was able to be with her in her last moments, including her granddaughter-in-law, Angelica. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Butternut.
She was an avid crafter. All family members have at least one item she crocheted or sewed for them. She also loved eating, collecting recipes, and cooking new dishes, even though she had to avoid gluten. Recently, she had picked up the hobby of working puzzles. She surrounded herself with blue and yellow decor and all kinds of angels, many of which she found at local thrift stores. She cherished her friends and neighbors, especially Bob, Carol, Mike, and Susan. She will be especially missed by her best friend of 45 years, Barbara Twine. She continued to reside in the home her parents built when she was only seven years old. The neighbors frequently found her sitting on the porch waving to them. We will all miss her daily phone calls and updates. She was very determined to be independent and had her own way of doing things, even in her death. She will live on in the hearts of family, friends, and neighbors because of the love she demonstrated for them all.
There will be a graveside service for the family and close friends at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Rosewood Memorial Park at 631 North Witchduck Rd. in Virginia Beach.
Afterwards, the family invites all who knew her to attend a reception at her family home to share memories and celebrate her life. May she rest in peace now that she doesn’t have to worry anymore.
