Obituary of Frank Leon Treadway
Frank Leon Treadway, 97, passed away on July 28, 2021. He was born on December 31, 1923 in Hammond, IN and lived most of his life in Virginia Beach. Frank joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 during WWII serving as a Gunners Mate until 1948. He then moved to Civil Service until his retirement in 1979. Frank was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 69 years, Lura Mae Treadway. He is survived by son, Donald G. Treadway and wife Maria; daughter, Mary K. Carper and partner Cindy; grandchildren Theresa, Donald, Suzanne, Melinda, Jennifer, Richard and Christin; 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, nieces and nephews and extended family. He was a member of London Bridge Baptist Church for 40 years and member of the Echoes Senior Choir. An avid Washington Football fan, he also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, choir, working in his yard, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and hanging out with his Hardee’s friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, 11 a.m. at London Bridge Baptist Church, 2460 Potters Road Virginia Beach, VA. A private Interment for family will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Westminister Canterbury Hospice or Virginia Beach Rescue Squad.
