George "Danny" Walker Sr.

CDR. George “Danny” Walker, Sr. U.S. Navy (Ret.), 64, passed away peacefully November 19, 2010 at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

“Danny” as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was born October 15, 1946, in Wilmington, N.C. to the late Herbert and Lydia walker, Sr. CDR. Walker served our country proudly in the U.S. Navy, retiring with over 26 years of dedicated service. He loved being outdoors. He enjoyed riding his Harley, watching NASCAR, and camping with his family and friends. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle. He will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 40 years, Brenda Walker; two sons, Danny Walker, Jr., David Walker; sister, Carolyn Walker, brother, Allen Walker and wife Joyce; two nieces, Kelly Mayorga, Shannon Richey; a great-nephew, Austin Walker; and two dogs, “Abigail” and “Nickel”.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, November 22, 2010 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 23, 2010 will be held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society.
