Grace Lee Sawyer

Grace Lee Waller Sawyer, age 77, went to her heavenly Father on January 20, 2014. Grace was born in Norfolk County, VA to Nellie and Howard Merdith Waller. She was married 56 years to her husband, Richard Willis Sawyer. She was predeceased by her parents, and brother, Charles E. Waller.

She was a devoted wife and mother. Grace was ever faithful to the Lord. She grew up in Lake Drummond Baptist Church and was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church since 1963. She served in the preschool and children’s Sunday School Division for 12 years. She also served on several church committees. Grace retired from Lynn Shores Manor Nursing Home after 15 years of service as LPN.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Willis Sawyer; daughter, Angela Y. Vick and husband Craig; granddaughter, Georgia C. Deal; grandson, Jeffrey P. Deal, Jr.; brother, Edward R. O’Farrell and wife Carolyn; sister, Edna O’Farrell DeLaney and husband the late Paul DeLaney; sister, Elinor Beames Horton and husband Johnny; and many nieces nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, January 24, 2014 with visitation beginning at 10:00 am at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. Burial will be private at Rosewood Memorial Park.
