Harry was preceded in death by mother Alida White and son Ryan Shelkey.
In his younger years he found joy in fishing whenever time allowed, a simple pleasure that reflected his appreciation for life's quiet moments. Even at 85 as his work ethic never wavered, he continued working full-time at the Huntington Ingalls, a testament to his strength, dedication, and character.
Survivors include his wife Eileen Rhea Shelkey, children Ernest Blair of Snug Harbor, NC, Laura Stidham of Virginia Beach, VA, Tracy Woods of Norfolk, VA, Jeremie Shelkey of Norfolk, VA, John Shelkey of Virginia Beach, VA, Beth Hoyos of Moyock, NC, Karen Shelkey of Smithfield, VA, Eileen Dixon of Washington, NC, James Shelkey of Virginia Beach, VA, Harry Shelkey Jr., of Haydenville, MA, Carl Shelkey of Haydenville, MA and Bruce Shelkey of Agawam, MA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 27, 10:00am at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park with military honors.
