Herbert Carl Spears

Mr. Spears was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Spears and Margaret Hopp Spears and a brother Robert Spears. He served in the U.S. Navy for nine and a half years and from the Norfolk Naval Ship Yard as a General Foreman with twenty-seven years of service. He was a longtime member of Norfolk Gardens Baptist Church and a former member of the Dixie Squares Square Dancing Club. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather with a great sense of humor.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-one years Patricia LaRue Spears, two sons, Bob Spears and wife Pam, Tim Spears and wife Wendy; four grandchildren, Michael, Megan, Blake and Isabel Spears, a brother Ronald Spears and wife Sandy and a sister-in-law Betty Spears.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 3, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home.

A celebration of Mr. Spears life will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Norfolk Garden Baptist Church 6235 Azalea Garden Road, Norfolk, Va., by The Rev. David Hillis. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
