

Herb was born in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Herbert and Margaret Videll. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired after many years of service with the C & P Telephone Company and Verizon Engineering Department. He was a founding member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he served in many ministries; also a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus, a dedicated volunteer wood carver at the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum- deWitt Cottage, past scout master, community football coach, Civic League president, and PTA president.
Herb was devoted to his family and is survived by his wife of over sixty years, Patricia Videll, and daughters Cathi Konopik (Brad), Beth Goralewicz (Rob), and Patti Becton (Mike); sons Mike Videll (Wendy), Bill Videll (Michelle), and Jim Videll (Ginny); grandchildren Shannon Wassel (Phil), Austin Konopik, Patrick Videll (Brittany), Caitlin Videll, Troy Konopik, Matthew Videll, Erin Devosha (Josh), Ryan Videll, Emily Goralewicz (Sam Jones), Brenna Videll, Chris Peterson, Kyle Videll, William Videll, and Logan Videll; Great grandchildren Aedan and Samantha Wassel. Herb is also survived by sister Margie Woolford and beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter in law, Tracy Videll, and grandson, Andrew Peterson.
Herb and Pat loved spending time with their family and friends. Together they enjoyed volunteering, traveling, “birding”, mountain and Southern Shore reunions, and “keeping up with the little guys” at their house in Baylake Pines. He was always fun to be with.
The family will receive friends at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1396 Lynnhaven Parkway, on Saturday, February 24, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial by Father Tim Kuhneman will be Celebrated at 10:30 am followed by a reception in the church. A graveside service will follow 2p.m. at Princess Anne Memorial Park. All are welcome at the gravesite and afterwards at the house. If desired, a memorial contribution may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church or to the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum at deWitt Cottage, 1113 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 20451.
