Hester Carolyn Edwards

Carolyn was born in Bluefield, VA. The daughter of the late Frank and Lina Gillespie. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hubert Edwards, Sr., son, Franklin R. Edwards, brothers Frank Gillespie, Arnold Gillespie, John Gillespie, Gordon Gillespie and sister Sandra Thompson.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Richard Hubert Edwards, Jr. (Bettie); daughter, Cheryl E. Reyes (Robert), daughter-in-law, Leslie Edwards. Grandchildren, April Denton, Ricky Edwards (Shannon), Zoe Reyes, Aaron Edwards and Austin Edwards. Great grandchildren, Samantha Wright, Typanga Swiantek and Joseph Edwards. Great great grandchildren Ann Marie Wright, Brayden Everett and Laylah Everett. Family dogs, Rascal, Baby, Bandit and Smokey. Brothers, Curtis Gillespie, Ernest Gillespie, Roger Gillespie and sister Sharon York.

Carolyn retired from Old Dominion University as a Data Entry Operator. Carolyn enjoyed going to the Gillespie and Hayes family reunions in Western Virginia. Carolyn and her husband enjoyed traveling to places like Alaska and Hawaii.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 on Wednesday, January, 19, 2022 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462, with visitation starting one hour prior. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
