Reverend Doctor Horace Edgar Twine

The Reverend Doctor Horace Edgar Twine, 83, of Tampa, Florida went to be with his Savior and Lord on October 16, 2012. He was the youngest of six children born in Tyner, North Carolina to Oliver C. and Essie Chappell Twine. He attended elementary and high school in Chowan County, NC and Chesapeake, VA. He then earned an Associate in Arts from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA; B.A. from the University of Richmond, VA; Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX, and a Master of Theology from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He completed post-graduate study at New College, University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland and received the Doctor of Ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY in 1973. Dr. Twine was baptized and ordained at South Norfolk Baptist Church by his pastor and lifetime friend, the Reverend Frank Hughes, Jr. He served as Pastor of Ivor Baptist Church, Ivor, VA, Broadview Baptist Church, Temple Hills, MD and Riverside Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL. During the 1980s he was the Senior Vice-President and Eastern Division Coordinator of TOGETHER WE BUILD Capital Fund Raising Program- Stewardship Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Dr. Twine was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers Graham Louis Twine and Gillam Twine and his sisters, Irene T. Jones, Clara T. Parker and Lillian T. Bremner.

Survivors include many nephews and nieces and their families.

Services will be at 2:30pm on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA with Pastor Scott Chafee presiding, followed by interment at Rosewood Memorial Park and reception in the funeral home.
