On September 15, 1929, Irene Marie Finley was born to the late Lucy and William Smith in McDowell County, WVA. She grew up in Gary holler where life revolved around coal mining, family, and the mountains. Through her family and that mining, she met her love and late husband Ray Lee Finley. Together they moved to Va Beach and the rest is an adventurous history.
Anybody that ever met Irene, or Grandma as many knew her, loved and embraced her. She had always loved to joke, play practical jokes and especially loved April Fool’s day! She was just a lot of fun; but she wasn’t a lady that you’d Ever want to cross either. The force was strong with that one...explains that 92 years for sure!! Grandma loved her family more than anything and would help anybody that she could. In memory, please perpetuate her kindness.
Also predeceasing Irene are her daughter, Michele Davis; her sister, Olga Rife and brothers, Eddie and Charlie Smith. Left behind to Always remember Grandma are her granddaughter Tracey Bailey, great-granddaughter Hunter Myers, close friend Vanessa Wright, All of her nieces that she loves to the moon and back, and of course, anybody and everybody that ever met Grandma!! Love, Light and Thank You to All that have helped us so much along the last few years. Good Night Irene...May You Rest in the Paradise you so richly deserve!
There will be a visitation from 6-8pm, Friday at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11am, Saturday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.kellumfuneralhome.com.
