Irene Wright Nielsen

Irene Wright Nielsen, 93, of Virginia Beach went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday. She has joined her husband, Aage Nielsen, her parents, Greenville and Ruth Wright as well as her brother and sister, Greenville Wright, Jr. and Evelyn Strohkorb. Irene loved her family, and that was her priority. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a retired school teacher with Virginia Beach Public Schools. She enjoyed spending time with her family the most, especially her grandchildren. She is cherished in memory by her daughters, Mary Matthews (John) and Nancy Berry (Linwood); four grandchildren, Sarah and David Berry, Michael and Kristin Matthews; four great grandchildren, Daniel, Caleb and Sophia Berry and Gavin Webb and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, June 28, 2021, 2pm at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service starting at 1pm. Interment will immediately follow the service at Rosewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to a charity of your choice.
