I would have liked to know him. He would have been my grandfather if I had ever met him. I'm from Indiana. My father was his son James Henry Backus ll. However my father passed away when I was 8 months old. I was always told I had a grandfather in Virginia Beach. In 2000 when I was 18 I looked him up and called him but he wasn't interested in talking to me. May he rest in peace and my condolences to his other family.  Justin James Backus

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing.  We worked together a lot of years at the Dental Supply.

Our sincere condolences to the entire Backus family.  We first met Jim and Elaine when we were neighbors living in Navy housing in DC in 1964, and again briefly in Va Beach. Such fine folks !!

Thinking of the family.   I know everyone knows this, but Mr. & Mrs. Backus were very special people.  You guys were so lucky to have such amazing parents.
